The Peninsula Hotel, a brand-new luxury 7-star hotel situated in the heart of Belgravia, sought an advanced solution for managing and maintaining staff uniforms and guest garments. Their goal was to ensure garments were pristine and met the highest standards of excellence.

Comprehensive Laundry Solutions for Uniforms and Guest Garments
Sustainable Electrolux Professional Lagoon Advanced Care Wet Cleaning System
The first major installation was the Electrolux Professional Lagoon Advanced Care system. This innovative wet cleaning system uses water and environmentally-friendly detergents as the primary cleaning agent, unlike conventional dry cleaning methods that rely on solvent-based chemicals with their associated risks and high energy and cost implications.
This environmentally-friendly solution is ideal for people with sensitive skin, delivering exceptional cleaning results for even the most delicate fabrics. Additional benefits include high loading factors, rapid processing times and low energy consumption, aligning with the hotel’s sustainable practices and appealing to eco-conscious staff and guests.
In addition, the hotel can process general laundry in the same machinery, offering flexibility to thereby maximise their investment.
Metalprogetti’s Uniform System for Efficient Garment Management
The project was successfully completed with Metalprogetti’s advanced uniform system, which streamlined the transfer of cleaned garments from the laundry area to the staff collection point, significantly enhancing operational efficiency and organisation.
This system features automatic loading, seamlessly moving finished garments from the laundry to the uniform system located one floor below. This automation reduces manual handling, minimises human error and ensures a smoother workflow.
The integration of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology further enhanced the system by providing precise tracking of each garment. This allows the hotel to monitor the status and location of every uniform in real-time, ensuring staff can quickly and easily access their cleaned uniforms when needed.
Staff can collect garments by presenting their staff-issued RFID cards at any of the Metalprogetti collection gates, the same cards used for accessing other areas of the hotel. The system provides a directory of uniform items to choose from, which are then efficiently and securely delivered to the staff.
When staff return their worn uniform, they simply drop this off at one of the Metalprogetti drop-off gates, and the system reads the RFID chip automatically, registering the return against the staff member, and then automatically sorts the returns into various baskets according to the garment type, ready to be taken to the laundry for cleaning.
